Dr. Rajesh Parasnis is a highly respected and distinguished Spine Surgeon with over two decades of focused experience in managing complex spinal disorders. He currently serves as the Senior spine surgeon at Apollo Hospitals Pune. Over the years, he has earned recognition as one of India’s leading authorities in spine surgery, known for handling challenging cases with precision, safety, and consistently strong clinical outcomes.
With a professional career spanning more than 25 years, Dr. Parasnis performs over 600 spine surgeries annually, including some of the most complex procedures in spinal care. His surgical expertise covers scoliosis and kyphosis correction, high-grade listhesis, revision spine surgeries, spinal tumor surgeries, spinal tuberculosis, and advanced minimally invasive spine procedures. His ability to manage both degenerative and deformity-related spinal conditions makes him a referral surgeon for complex cases across the region.
Dr. Parasnis completed his MBBS (First Class) from B.J. Medical College, Pune, followed by MS in Orthopaedics and DNB in Orthopaedics from the prestigious Sancheti Institute for Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation. To further refine his expertise, he underwent advanced international fellowships in spine surgery, including training under Prof. Jürgen Harms in Germany and specialized instruction in minimally invasive spine surgery at the National University Hospital, Singapore. He has also received advanced training at leading spine centres in Germany, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, South Korea, and other global hubs of spinal innovation.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Parasnis has played an important leadership and academic role in spine surgery. He has served as President of the Pune Association of Spine Surgeons, Organising Secretary for ASSICON 2015 (Pune), and a member of the Executive Committee of ASSICON. He is also actively involved in guiding spine fellowship training programs, contributing to the education and development of future spine surgeons.
Dr. Parasnis has an extensive academic portfolio, with numerous publications in national and international peer-reviewed journals covering topics such as spinal deformities, spinal infections, tumors, minimally invasive techniques, and complex reconstructive surgeries. He is a regular faculty member at major orthopaedic and spine conferences and has conducted multiple workshops on advanced spinal fixation and deformity correction techniques.
His international exposure includes training and academic participation at renowned spine centers worldwide. He has attended and contributed to global forums such as the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS) meetings and currently serves as an Honorary Spine Surgeon in Nigeria, reflecting his international professional standing.
